MATRA BUILDS UP 15% STAKE IN SAT

Matra SA has built up a 15% stake in Societe Anonyme de Telecommunications, SAT, paying the equivalent of $27m, according to Le Monde: a few days ago, SAT announced agreement with Siemens AG for a joint venture with SAT’s Radiotel unit to develop digital cellular mobile phones (CI No 908) and Matra already has a similar agreement with Siemens on digital cellular phones; SAT is currently controlled by electromechanical equipment maker Sagem SA, which has 49.7% of the shares and a majority of the votes.
