Blue Mountain Imports Ltd has announced the FlashTalk 2400, a 2,400bps modem that does not need mains or battery connection, but takes its power from the telephone line and the personal computer’s RS232 port: the Bletchley, Buckinghamshire-based company is pushing the product’s small size as a point in its favour, claiming that it is the size of a matchbox – 3 by 2.4 by 0.7; the product is Hayes-compatible, and provides call progress monitoring with LEDs showing call status; at UKP75, the FlashTalk 2400 is available immediately, although it is still waiting for the official nod from the British Approvals Board for Telecommunications.
