MASSTOR SYSTEMS HAS FIELD UPGRADE FOR THE M860 STORAGE MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS

By CBR Staff Writer

Masstor Systems Corp, Santa Clara, California has a field upgrade for its M860 Storage Management Systems that doubles both the recording density and data transfer rate: with the double density upgrade, the on-line capacity of each M860 storage module jumps to 110Gb, and a fully configured system will now store 880Gb, while the data transfer rate of the controller also will be doubled to a sustained aggregate rate of three Mbytes-per-second over two data channels; first customer to benefit from the enhancement is National Westminster Bank Plc; the upgrade provides the extra capacity at between $4 and $2 per megabyte, depending on the customer’s existing configuration.
