Acknowledging that the future of Unix is firmly in the hands of AT&T Co despite the standards efforts of the Posix committe and X/Open Ltd, Masscomp Corp has revealed that it has initiated discussions with AT&T about incorporating aspects of the Masscomp RTU real-time implementation of Unix in future versions of Unix System V: Masscomp says that AT&T’s reaction to the proposal was positive but inconclusive and there is as yet no formal agreement.
