Mass Microsystems of Sunnyvale, California has introduced its DiamondDrive family of external, high-capacity hard drives for the Macintosh: the series consists of four new hard drives with storage capacities of 120Mb, 210Mb, 320Mb and 510Mb; data is transferred at up to 2Mb per second, and to and from the buffer at up to 5Mb per second; average access time for the 320Mb and 510Mb drives is 12mS, and 15mS for the 120Mb and 200Mb drives; also, the drives offer a variable cache for faster access time: the 120Mb offering is $1,200, the 200Mb $1,400, the 320Mb $2,600, the 510Mb $3,600; all are set for September.
