MARTIN MARIETTA HAS AI WAFER TESTING PROGRAMME

By CBR Staff Writer

Martin Marietta Corp’s Baltimore, Maryland research laboratory has come up with an artificial intelligence program to test wafers of high-frequency integrated circuits 20 times faster than current methods: test probes at various points on a wafer examine data from all the circuits and if performance is down in one area, a computer directs a more thorough examination of that area, so that the bad circuit be can isolated rather than scrap the entire wafer; the testing technique will be used in Marietta’s Microwave/Millimeter Wave Monolithic Integrated Circuits Gallium Arsenide joint venture with ITT Corp.
