MARCONI PICKS ELXSI 6400

By CBR Staff Writer

Elxsi Corp has won a blue chip UK customer for its System 6400 minisupercomputer in the shape of GEC’s Marconi Underwater Systems Ltd, in Waterlooville, Hampshire. The sale is the first for Elxsi in the UK defence and aerospace industry. Marconi is getting a two-processor 6400 with 16Mb memory, and will install it at its new engineering facility in Croxley Green, near Watford, opened by the Duke and Duchess of York earlier this month. The Elxsi system will be used to run Cosmos, a complex tactical combat simulation software suite that incorporates models of the underwater environment and friendly and hostile forces and their weapons.
