MapInfo Corp has made a strategic investment in graph and charting software house Three D Graphics Inc, a Los Angeles, California-based firm. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed. Between them, the two companies deliver data visualization software on an OEM basis to most of the major vendors, including Business Objects Inc, IBM Corp, Manugistics Corp, Microsoft Corp, Oracle Corp and Seagate Software Inc. As part of the deal, Three D’s products will be combined with MapInfo’s software suite, and sold through MapInfo’s worldwide distribution channel. Three D’s Amigo 2000 charting application is to be included as an add-on with Microsoft’s Office 2000. Troy, New York-based MapInfo claims to have 300,000 users of its MapInfo and SpatialWare applications.
