MAPINFO BUYS FORMER PARTNER AND LOOKS TO EUROPEAN EXPANSION

By CBR Staff Writer

Mapping software company MapInfo Corp is moving further into Europe following its acquisition of data and software provider The Data Consultancy. Troy, New York-based MapInfo hopes to expand its presence in Europe with the purchase of the UK company from Reading in Berkshire, which provides data products and mapping systems to companies within the retail, telecommunications, finance, real estate and government sectors across Europe. The Data Consultancy has worked with MapInfo on a partner basis for the best part of ten years and MapInfo says the buy will provide it with additional infrastructure to grow in Europe. Financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed.
