Using technology gained from the merger with Siemens AG’s Office Products division in October, German printer manufacturer Mannesmann Tally Ltd, Wokingham, Berkshire, has launched two low-cost 300 by 300 dots-per-inch resolution colour printers for under UKP2,000: made in Germany, except for the thermal head which is made in Japan, the MT7400C professional thermal transfer page printer, which costs UKP1,850, can print 4,096 colour combinations at one page per minute – 4ppm in monochrome – and will be shipped with drivers for Windows 2.0 and 3.0; the MT92C general purpose ink-jet office prin-ter, also made in Germany and costing UKP1,800, produces 4,096 colour combinations using four 50-nozzle bubb-le-jet heads in parallel, says Mannesmann, offering colour laser quality at a lower cost per page.
