The Paris, France-based company’s Mandriva Flash is an easy way for users to keep the Linux operating system with them without the need for a laptop, and unlike live CD versions, it also comes with the ability to store personal data.

Half of the USB device’s 2GB of memory used for the Mandriva Linux 2007 distribution, and the other half available for personal files.

Mandriva Flash includes Mandriva Linux 2006, based on the 2.6.17 kernel, as well as version 3.5.4 of KDE. Mozilla Firefox, OpenOffice.org 2.0.3, the Gimp, and a variety of other open source applications, as well as drivers for the likes of Adobe Flash and RealPlayer.

The device is available for sale via Mandriva’s online store now and costs 59 euros ($78).
