Less than a month after the close of the Summer Olympics in Barcelona, for which Sema Group Plc developed the operational systems, the Anglo-French software house has been chosen by the Manchester 2000 committee to advise on information systems for the first Olympic Games of the 21st century (actually, for pedants, the last of the 20th). A Sema spokeswoman was careful to stress that the contract does not mean that Sema has been chosen to supply systems for Manchester, in the unlikely event that that city is chosen as the Olympic site. The company would however certainly put itself in the running to be its Olympic systems supplier, she added.
