MALAYSIA THE THIRD BIGGEST PRODUCER OF INTEGRATED CIRCUITS

Malaysia suffered a devastating haemorrhage of jobs in the last semiconductor turn-down, but the country claims to be the third biggest producer of integrated circuits after the US and Japan albeit mostly packaging rather than fabrication, and the US companies that scaled down operations or fled in the downturn are coming back, and the forecast is that $560m will be invested in new semiconductor capacity over the next five years.
