Citing the 14,000 Japanese companies already doing business outside Japan, Fujitsu Ltd has introduced a version of its Oasys Japanese word processor which conforms with the UL safety standards demanded in the US, as well as the 240V mains power standards in much of the rest of the world. From the end of November the Fujitsu My Oasys, Oasys LiteK20, Oasys 100L and Oasys 30AX-W will go on sale in the UK, Canada, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines and Indonesia. The Oasys builds in a 400dpi 190 characters per second high-performance printer, with three standard Japanese fonts and 22 English fonts, plus layout functions. The price is 273,000 yen in Japan and will be approximately the equivalent $2,180 in foreign currency; Fujitsu expects to sell 10,000 units in the rest of the world and 1,000 units in Japan.
