According to Ventana Research new survey on enterprise adoption of Hadoop to manage big data, about 54% of organisations surveyed are using or considering Hadoop for large-scale data processing needs.
The research also found that 94% of Hadoop users perform analytics on large volumes of data not possible before and 88% analyse data in greater detail, while 82% can now retain more of their data.
More than twice as many Hadoop users report being able to create new products with big data and have realised costs savings beyond those using other platforms; over 82% benefit from faster analyses and better utilisation of computing resources.
These research statistics reveal that 87% of Hadoop users are performing or planning new types of analyses with large scale data and 63% organisations use Hadoop in particular to work with unstructured data such as logs and event data.
Ventana Research undertook this research to acquire real-world information about maturity, trends and best practices in organisations towards managing ‘Big Data’ and the adoption of technologies such as Hadoop to optimise their data management processes and operations.
Karmasphere offers a Big Data intelligence offering which helps developers and analysts in the enterprise explore unstructured data produced by web, mobile, sensor and social media together with traditional structured data.
