Westborough, Massachusetts-based Proteon Inc has formalised its strategy to attract licensees for its OpenRoute internetworking software with the formation of a new business unit. It will be managed by Robert Koch, Proteon’s marketing development director, who has already been involved with the licensing programme, and will provide technology assessment, design feasibility and software implementation analysis for OpenRoute licensees. It will also develop an OpenRoute certification and compliance programme. Proteon also announced the fourth OpenRoute licensee, joining Motorola Inc’s Information Systems Group (CI No 2,637), and Digital Equipment Corp and IBM Corp (CI No 2,637) – although the latest addition, Teldat SA, is a small fish by comparison. Madrid, Spain-based Teldat will add key elements of Openroute to its concentrator and switching products. Financial terms of the deal were not revealed.
