MAIL NEWSPAPERS TO USE SYSTEMS INTEGRATORS’ SYSTEM/55

By CBR Staff Writer

Systems Integrators Inc has a pact with Mail Newspapers Plc for its Tandem NonStop minicomputer-based System/55 electronic publishing complex, making the newspaper group the largest user of System Integrators front-end equipment in Europe: output will be to Atex-driven APS 5 photosetters that will work in parallel with System/55 until the paper moves to the old Barkers building in Kensington High Street in early 1989, when the system will take over completely; the Systems Integrators equipment is already installed at the Birmingham Post and Mail, the London and Frankfurt offices of the Financial Times, Reuters and the Press Association.
