Seven giants from around the world assmbled in La Napoule, France yesterday to announce formation of a group that will work to promote the design and use of collaborative multimedia applications: the founders of the Multimedia Communications Community of Interest are British Telecommunications Plc, France Telecom SA, Deutsche Bundespost Telekom, IBM Corp, Intel Corp, Northern Telecom Ltd and Telstra Corp; they say they will promote the use of applications that enable people in different locations round the globe to view documents, images, graphics and full-motion video on a personal computer screen, and make changes that all other participants can see, the companies say.
