Madrid-based packaged software specialist Meta4 SA has just announced plans for expansion into France, Belgium and the US. The announcement coincided with the launch of its second version of Meta4Mind, a range of products that includes the personnel and payroll management systems, Meta4 Factor Humano and Meta4 Nomina. Meta4 president Juan Moran declared that expansion across borders and overseas was a logical step in the light of the company’s rapid growth over the last year. Revenue up 50% at $7m was reported for fiscal 1995, with half of this figure coming from Spain and the other half from subsidiaries already established in Mexico and Argentina. Moran said that in preparation for its entry into the new market areas, Meta4 was engaged in talks with companies interested in becoming distributors of its products in those countries, as well as with potential technological partners. Meta4’s application products are geared towards client-server technology and thus translate easily to other languages, while they can also be adapted to the needs of different organizations. Moran said that the company was now seeking to attract more PYMES, small and medium-sized businesses, with its applications, since so far Meta4 has concentrated more on large accounts – companies such as the construction giant Dragados y Construcciones SA, for example, which recently signed an agreement with Meta4 to adopt the latter’s payroll software to manage its 15,000 staff, including workers on some 500 sites. Meta4 has continued to show remarkable growth in recent months, with revenue during the first half of the current fiscal year up 95% on the same period last time. รก
