MADGE WINS EXTENSION OF ITS LUCENT OEM DEAL

By CBR Staff Writer

Dutch end to end network systems provider Madge Networks NV has announced an expanded global OEM agreement with Lucent Technologies Inc’s Global Private Systems International, under which Madge will provide Lucent with its high performance workgroup and backbone LAN switches and the software to manage them. The agreement covers Asia/Pacific, Canada/Latin America and Europe, the Middle East and Africa. It continues and expands the deal established in 1995, under which Madge supplies Lucent with its LANswitch hub, and adds Madge’s Collage Asynchronous Transfer Mode backbone switches and Visage Ethernet Workgroup switches. The Dutch firm says the deal has great strategic importance because it opens up a whole new market for the company.
