Maddox Group Plc has won the scramble to snap up bust Coventry-based reseller Computer Profiles Ltd (CI No 2,104) and its sister company Software Profiles Ltd. The UKP150,000 takeover, which includes assumption of additional UKP50,000 liabilities was agreed after just two days of negotiation. The consultancy and development elememts of the two businesses, which specialise in support and maintenance for AIX Unix, IBM RS/6000 and personal computer systems will continue to trade under the Computer Profiles Ltd name. The maintenance side, meantime, is to be incorporated into Maddox’s Wakebourne Group Ltd services arm, an arrangement that should boost the group’s presence in the Midlands area and that fits neatly into Maddox’s focus on IBM and Compaq systems maintenance in the UK (CI No 2,080). Computer Profiles is in the throes of shedding around 10 staff but the company’s remaining 30 or so technical and engineering staff are to stay under the new agreement. Combined turnover for the two concerns for the year ending December 1992 was UKP3.6m. Net assets total UKP100,000.
