MacVonk*USA Inc, the Narberth, Pennsylvania-based subsidiary of privately-held Dutch company MacVonk BV, is shipping its integrated HandiWorks program for the Apple Computer Inc Macintosh at $175: the program combines word processor, spreadsheet, basic drawing and page layout tools, and Address Manager database, with templates for commonly-used office forms, as well as dictionaries for hyphenation and spell checking; it opens as a blank page where frames of text, numbers and images can be created or imported and users determine the size, placement and total number of frames on each page, with everything on the page linked, no matter how many independent frames are in the document so that whenever data is changed, all the linked items are automatically updated; it runs under System 6 on 1Mb machines, using a maximum of 800Kb when all applications and features are active, and imports and exports ASCII, Microsoft Word, WriteNow and MacWrite files; it also supports EPS, TIFF, PFICT, PICT2 and MacPaint formats; MacVonk has also introduced Inforum, a group conferencing program designed to organise, document and streamline group discussions of up to 512 people; it needs 2Mb and System 7 and AppleTalk over any local network medium; it’s $500 for the server software and five clients, $250 for each extra five.
