As part of the transaction agreement, Trymedia will become part of Macrovision’s new games business unit, set up to enable game publishers to secure, distribute, promote and continuously renew their video games.
Consumers today want to be able to get their game content when they want it, where they want it and that requires a distribution system that enables that flexibility securely, while also protecting the content from massive unauthorized usage, commented Fred Amoroso, president of Macrovision.
The two companies will work together to provide game publishers with a single platform for distributing their game content both on and offline. They will also offer online retailers with a catalog of game titles, support for multiple business models and online merchandising tools in a bid to generate new revenue opportunities.
