MACROMEDIA TO SHIP GENERATOR WEB TOOL

By CBR Staff Writer

Macromedia Inc is launching a new web graphics toolkit called Generator. This server-based software uses templates created in the company’s Flash package to allow the user to update web graphics such as headlines, mastheads and graphs and the like without recreating the entire web page. The package supports web graphics formats such as GIF, JPEG and PNG, as well as vector-based Flash (.swf) files. The flash product line is shipping now, the high end Generator Dynamic Graphics Server is available for NT and Windows, priced at $3000 per server processor. The Generator Developers Studio is available for $500 for NT, Windows and the Macintosh. Flash 3 users can upgrade to the Generator Developers Studio for $200. The Generator Dynamic Graphics Server for Sun Microsystems Inc’s Solaris is expected to ship later this year.
