MacNeal-Schwendler Corp, Los Angeles aims to increase the number of engineers able to use its Finite Element Analysis simulation software in product design by setting a higher marketing budget, adding new products, and making a price cut in one product line: the goal is to broaden the market to 1.5m from just 100,000 users now – 1.5m is the entire spectrum of design engineers, the company added; the size of the finite element market would then be expanded to $2,000m from$300m; the MSC/Aries predictive engineering software series combined with its workstation MSC/Nastran system will be priced at one third of the combined prices of the previously unbundled products, and it says it plans a series of new products and upgrades to the MSC/Nastran workstation and MSC/Aries software throughout the current year.
