By CBR Staff Writer

Taiwanese Apple Macintosh cloner Umax Computer Corp has launched its first entry-level, MacOS-compatible personal computers. The 140MHz PowerPC 603e based-SuperMac C500LT/140 and 180MHz PowerPC 603e driven 500i/180 are aimed at first-time buyers and MacOS enthusiasts seeking competitive pricing on a home system, the firm says. Both are shipping now, priced $1,000 and $1,200 respectively. Umax is also slashing prices of its other MacOS- compatible machines by up to 12%.
