M-R Group Plc, the original Microfilm Reprographics, which was previously MR Data Management Group Plc, is buying again, this time going for Kalexis Ltd, a consultancy firm specialising in process improvement and document management technologies, but terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. David Saul and Alan Haimes, the two senior directors of Kalexis, will be joining the M-R Group with Saul appointed to the main board and Haimes acting as alternate main board director. Kalexis was formerly known as In-Form Systems Ltd, and according to the London-based M-R, its major projects have included assisting an international bank to develop a high volume imaging and data capture service in Eastern Europe; developing a high level document management strategy for a major financial services company, delivering 50% savings in unit costs; and creating the business case for radical process change within a mobile communications company’s customer service department and assisting in acquisition of technology to support the implementation – one way and another representing a significant diversification for the company. Kalexis clients include British Telecommunications Plc, Orange Group Plc, CitiCorp, Post Office, Ernst & Young, Sony Corp, Tameside Metropolitan Borough. King’s National Health Service Trust, Unipart Plc, Legal & General Assurance Plc and Willis Corroon Plc. M-R says the acquisition is a key part of its evolving business strategy to become the leading supplier of do cument management services; Kalexis will become the high level consulting unit of the M-R Group, to help clients understand and implement document management technologies at all levels.
