LYNX HOLDINGS EXPANDS IN MOBILE DATA WITH UKP380,000 ACQUISITION OF S-COM

Lynx Holdings Plc, the Sheffield-based computer services and communications group, has acquired the S-Com Mobile Data Systems division of S.Com Computer Systems Engineers Ltd for 800,000 Lynx ordinary shares, worth around UKP384,000. The vendor has accepted restrictions on disposal of those shares for up to three years from completion of the sale. S-Com Mobile Data will be merged with Lynx’s existing APD-Meritech Ltd communications business and the current managing director of APD, Roger Hickman, will oversee the combined business. S-Com Mobile Data has experience in the markets of mobile data integration and radio systems integration. It has developed the Radio Data Interface product that provides a bridge between information technology infrastructures and mobile data networks which is currently in use by the Cleveland Police. Lynx anticipates that this product in particular will offer it new market opportunities. Existing S-Com Mobile customers include Motorola Inc, British Gas Plc, London Electricity Plc and London Buses. S-Com Mobile currently employs 14 and had turnover of UKP747,000 for the year ended August 31 1993. Net assets at completion are estimated to be UKP20,000.
