Under terms of the agreement, Lucent will supply mobile network equipment including base stations, software and professional services to Cingular Wireless in 30 markets, including Atlanta, Boston, Dallas, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. These solutions will enable Cingular to immediately increase capacity and coverage of its current-generation mobile network and provide investment protection.
Lucent’s Flexent family of mobile switching centers and base stations and software will be used to enhance and expand the Cingular network.

This is the first general purchase agreement between Lucent and Cingular.
