LUCENT PREVIEWS IP MULTICAST SOFTWARE

By CBR Staff Writer

Lucent Technologies Inc previewed its e-cast Reliable IP Multicast Software – based on the Internet Protocol – at Networld+Interop in Las Vegas. The software is said to extend the capabilities of IP multicast by actively managing the members of a multicast session and insuring that each one receives the content being sent. According to Lucent, e-cast will function on any type of network, including satellite networks, and can be used with existing applications or as part of a proprietary software package. In addition to pushing data to receivers, e- mart has the capability to pull data from network servers.
