By CBR Staff Writer

Lucent Technologies Inc is expanding its European manufacturing facilities, with its semiconductor plant in Madrid, Spain and fiber optic manufacturing plant on Brondby, Denmark are both gearing up for the development of broadband communications technologies such as video-on-demand. The Spanish facility will get a $90m investment for advanced manufacturing technologies, and the Denmark plant gets $20m for a new fiber draw facility and 60 extra staff.

The company has also acquired Triple C Call Center Communications GmbH, a privately-held German company specializing in call center consultancy and systems integration. Lucent bought all the Triple C stock for an undisclosed amount of cash.
