In an effort to grab a bigger slice of the call center consulting and integration market, Lucent Technology today acquired Canada’s TKM Communications Inc for an undisclosed sum. Although Lucent will add TKM’s technology – which includes wireless servers, services based on interactive voice response and internet call centers – to its NetCare Professional Services call center software, TKM’s principal asset is its call center systems integration capabilties, a Lucent spokesperson said. TKM has set up call centers for a number of large companies across Canada, tying together a range of third party systems and software. Lucent wants to export TKM’s consulting know-how to the rest of the North American market. The deal follows Lucent’s acquisition last year of German company Triple C, which also provided call center integration and consulting.
