LTE Category 9 interoperability testing completed in Europe

Testing conducted with with 3-carrier downlink aggregation.

Qualcomm Technologies (QTI ), Huawei and EE have completed inter-company interoperability testing of LTE Category 9 connectivity.

The test was conducted with 3-carrier downlink aggregation, with download speeds of up to 410 Mbps.

QUALCOMM Snapdragon 810 processor with integrated LTE-Advanced next-generation modem, Huawei’s commercial infrastructure solution across EE’s LTE-A ‘4G+’ network and integrated LTE-Advanced next-generation modem was used for the testing.

This is the first time that LTE Category 9 interoperability testing with major solutions providers was concluded in Europe.

According to the companies it demonstrates superior end-to-end experience delivered by 3-carrier downlink aggregation.

Qualcomm Europe president Enrico Salvatori said: "We are excited to work with EE and Huawei in ushering in the latest evolution of wireless connectivity."

"Transitioning from Category 6 to Category 9 LTE-A connectivity will mean 1.5x faster peak download speeds, swift application response times, reliable connectivity and connections to the fastest networks."
