LSI LOGIC TO TAKE RESTRUCTURING CHARGE WITH 4Q FIGURES

By CBR Staff Writer

LSI Logic Corp, Milpitas, California warns that its Canadian affiliate, 54%-owned LSI Logic Corp of Canada Inc, will take a one-time restructuring charge with its fourth quarter figures in connection with its ending of sales of personal computer products: the knock-on effect at the US company will be a non recurring write-off of $9m that will cut its fourth quarter net earnings to around $4.4m, 11 cents a share after an extraordinary gain of two cents a share from early repayment of debt; sales in the quarter will be up 50% at about $117m against the same period last year, 25% up on the third quarter.
