A bit of Christmas cheer from LSI Logic Corp: the Milpitas, California company says that as a result of an improving business environment, it has cancelled its plans to shut down operations on December 21 to 23: the company said the pace of new orders has caused lead times to stretch for customer deliveries, and as a result it will continue operating normal hours for the rest of 1992 to meet product delivery commitments to customers; it also said it expects to achieve solid profitability in the fourth quarter after a third quarter net loss of $111.4m after a $101.8m restructuring charge, compared with a year-earlier profit of $804,000.
