Loudeye to support Intel Viiv initiatives

Business-to-business digital media services provider Loudeye has announced that it will work to connect digital entertainment devices and related digital media services using Intel's new Viiv technology platform.

By CBR Staff Writer

Loudeye will use the new Intel Viiv technology platform to deliver enhanced interoperability with consumer electronics devices and third-party applications and services, such as Loudeye’s privately branded digital music services.

The company said it seeks to address the complex range of technologies, formats and applications to make devices and services better communicate with each other in next-generation entertainment platforms. For consumers, this will usher in a new era of interoperability between a range of digital media devices and components including the PC, mobile phone, set top box and powerful new gaming machines.

Digital Home is the next frontier for premium music services, commented Ed Averdieck, Loudeye’s managing director for Europe. By embracing these new technologies we are demonstrating our commitment to working with industry leaders worldwide to solve the challenges that may be facing the larger adoption of these solutions across multiple consumption channels.

Digital entertainment as we view it today is undergoing a massive transformation and we are pleased to see companies like Loudeye addressing this opportunity, added Kevin Corbett, vice president and general manager of the Content Services Group at Intel Digital Home Group. On-demand, Internet-based content optimized for enjoyment in the living room or on the go, combined with the forthcoming Intel Viiv technology platform will help pave the way for a dramatic change in the way entertainment is consumed worldwide.
