Lotus Development Corp has revealed more details about how it plans to integrate the real-time video conferencing and distance learning technology it acquired from DataBeam Corp last month (CI No 3,414). The plan is to incorporate real-time collaboration and training capabilities into its LearningSpace distance learning product. LearningSpace is intended for creating and delivering training and education over the web and corporate intranets. The new version, code-named LearningSpace ‘Live’ will include the DataBeam Learning Server, will link with the upcoming version 2.6 of Lotus LearningSpace, and will be part of Lotus’ recently announced Sametime product family. The integrated product will use LearningSpace’s underlying scheduling, course management, assessment/testing and registration capabilities. It will be available in the second half of the year, said the company. Lotus also released a beta version of LearningSpace Campus a module which provides facilities for wishing to manage large scale deployments of courses
