LOTUS TURNS TO ICHAT FOR REAL-TIME CHAT SOFTWARE

By CBR Staff Writer

Lotus Development Corp has gone to Austin, Texas-based iChat Inc to license its ROOMS and ComHub Communications Hub Web-enabled chat and collaboration server software, which it plans to use in Lotus Domino. It will be sold under the name Domino Chat, and should be available by the end of the year. The software has been integrated, mainly through co-ordinating the installation, user authentication, administration and logging between Lotus and iChat applications, enabling real-time collaboration. Domino Chat will be available with both Lotus Domino and Domino Mail server software. ROOMS will be free for Domino licensees. The products will continue to be available separately from iChat.
