Lotus Development Corp, Cambridge, Massachusetts yesterday duly announced two new versions of its 1-2-3 spreadsheet for DEC’s VAX/VMS family of computers. Lotus 1-2-3 for VAX/VMS and 1-2-3 for All-In-1 offer 1-2-3 functionality and run on all VAXes. Both are based on 1-2-3 Release 3, and users will be able to import data through VAX/SQL Services from the VAX Rdb/VMS relational database system and other relational databases into their spreadsheets. To display graphs, 1-2-3 for VAX/VMS uses ReGIS for VT terminals and X Window protocols for DECwindows on workstations. Lotus 1-2-3 for All-In-1 can be invoked from any All-In-1 menu and worksheets can be saved to and retrieved from the All-In-1 file cabinet, and worksheet files can be mailed to other users via All-In-1 mail and users of MS-DOS versions of 1-2-3 can benefit from VMS services and to share worksheets with 1-2-3 for VAX/VMS users. Prices for 1-2-3 for VAX/VMS range from $800 for single-user VAXstation 3100 systems to $67,473 for VAX 9000 systems; 1-2-3 for All-In-1 prices range from $1,197 to $94,462 on the same machines, and will be available in the second quarter. DEC will be supporting the new 1-2-3s as if they were DEC products.
