With commendable independence, Lotus Development Corp is demonstrating that it may belong to IBM Corp, but it is in no way tied to Armonk’s apron strings, it finally ships SmartSuite 96 for OS/2 this week, which as PC Week points out, is just weeks before Windows95 users receive SmartSuite 97. Word Pro and Freelance Graphics will be the only native OS/2 applications in SmartSuite 96. ScreenCam will apparently not be part of the suite but will be included, along with native versions of 1-2-3, Organizer and Approach, in the OS/2 version of SmartSuite 97, which is due in the first half of next year.
