LOTUS COMPLETES DATEXT ACQUISITION

By CBR Staff Writer

Lotus Development Corp has now completed acquisition of Datext Inc, Woburn, Massachusetts in an exchange of shares. Datext brings into the Lotus camp a line of business reference material delivered on optical disk. Datest co-founder David Roux becomes general manager of Optical Database Products within the Information Services Division, where he will direct development, marketing and production of the Lotus One Source and Datext product lines. The Datext line includes six product series and 14 business reference databases on US public and privately owned companies, international companies, commercial banks, savings and loan institutions, and technology firms. Lotus One Source is the financial system that integrates eight industry standard financial databases and the analytical software to screen and analyse them quickly. The idea is that use of Compact Disk enables mainframe-size volumes of data together with widely used MS-DOS applications, all on a micro.
