LONDON-BASED UKP7M-A-YEAR HARDWARE MANUFACTURER HM SYSTEMS HAS BEATEN ICL, DELL AND BULL TO A UKP1.5M CONTRACT

London-based UKP7m-a-year hardware manufacturer HM Systems Plc has beaten ICL, Dell and Bull to a UKP1.5m contract to supply 540 386SX-based Minstel Workstation personal computers to Heathrow Airports Ltd over the next three years: Heathrow is using the computers on the OS/2 local area networks it is installing for airport management; the airport plans to integrate the nets with its host mainframe, with a view to using Fibre Distributed Data Interface technology to provide a fully distributed network.
