Fort Lauderdale, Florida-based Logical Devices Inc has announced a new universal semiconductor device programmer for use with field programmable gate arrays, programmable read-only memories, ROM-embedded microcontrollers and other types of programmable logic devices: the Allpro-88 programmer is totally software driven, and uniquely features independent digital-to-analogue converters for each of its 88 pins so that under software control, any pin can be programmed to do anything – slew voltage, slew current, sense voltage, sense current, or drive multiple asynchronous clocks up to 4MHz; it also supports the new avalanche-induced migration devices, which require current-pulsed rather than voltage-pulsed algorithms; a library of 2,800 popular devices is included so that calling up any device file automatically accesses, loads and implements all the programming parameters for that device, including required current and voltage slew rates, clock rates and timing relationships and data patterns to be programmed are downloaded from any logic compiler with a JEDEC file output – and it’s claimed to handle 97% of all programmable devices on the market – all for $14,950.
