Logica Plc is to lead the consortium awarded the UK Department of the Environment contract to install the first phase of a national radiation monitoring network as part of the National Response Plan announced last year after the Chernobyl accident: the net will monitor radiation from nuclear accidents that may occur overseas; 46 monitoring stations will be set up on Meterological sites throughout the UK sending hourly readings to two centres where they will be collected on a DEC MicroVAX with Oracle database; Logica will write the interpretation and data interrogation software.
