Those who like to listen to the music of earlier centuries uncluttered by the accretions of time and contemporary nostrums and prejudices will be pleased to learn that Logica Plc is sponsoring a series of concerts and recordings of the nine Beethoven symphonies played on instruments of the correct period in the original performing style, by the London Classical Players: EMI Music is recording the symphonies, and a series of four concerts will be staged in the Queen Elizabeth Hall on London’s South Bank between September and next May.
