Logica Plc says its has joined the Convergent Technologies-led Alvey project set up in 1986 to further the use of interactive video in intelligent computer assisted instruction: Logica’s role will be to develop an intelligent, multi media interface for cataloguing, storing and retrieving information on video disk; the company already has fingers in two Alvey pies – the programmable user models project to research user interface issues, and knowledge-based engineering training project to develop techniques for describing video material and relating them to a knowledge base.
