The contract was designed to upgrade the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) existing HP Superdomes. Under this agreement, Lockheed Martin’s enterprise solutions and services business unit will build on its previous contract with the criminal justice information services (CJIS) program, by providing Hewlett Packard Uplift Kits for 15 Superdome servers and 1 Flatsdome server.
Lockheed Martin will also provide a PA-8900 Superdome server to the Clarksburg, West Virginia facility as part of a project to modernize computer and communications technology at CJIS. The award will have a total package value of more than $16 million over five years, if all options are exercised.
A Superdome is a multiprocessing computer that is produced by Hewlett Packard and runs a Unix operating system. These upgrade kits will add processors to the Superdomes. Lockheed Martin supports CJIS in operation and maintenance of these systems and also serves as contractor for the division’s technology refreshment program.
Steve Lubniewski, president of enterprise solutions and services at Lockheed Martin, said: As a long-time partner with the FBI, Lockheed Martin is proud to continue serving an important role in the modernization of this critical infrastructure that is key to accomplishing the FBI mission.
