Smart-card specialists Litronic Inc and electronic commerce specialists Maithean Inc are co-operating to add smart card capabilities to Maithean’s NetPay secure transaction system. The system is compatible with Visa and MasterCard’s lately completed Secure Electronic Transaction standard, version 1.0. SET and is designed to enable encryption and certification from one vendor which is interoperable with other SET based systems. NetPay will now be able to use Litronic’s smart-cards for the secure storage and generation of SET certificates and encryption keys and will also be used for smart-card authenticated log-ins within the NetPay client applications, both NetPay Merchant and NetPay Gateway. The user authentication features are provided by Litronic’s NetSign, CryptOS and Security Management Centre software. The smart cards support Java, C and Active X, and the online x.509v3 smart card certification standard.
