Linksys said its PAP2 device, the Phone Adapter with 2 Phone Ports will be the device of choice for VoiceWing customers. The Verizon service allows users to place IP calls over DSL by plugging a regular phone into the adapter.

The company has inked similar deals in recent months with AT&T Corp and Vonage Inc. VoIP is a rapidly emerging business in the US, with young firms and the incumbent telcos all vying for a piece of the action.

Linksys also yesterday launched Easy Toolkit, software that the firm says will simplify the process of setting up home wireless networking. The kit includes Intel Corp’s month-old Smart Wireless Solutions software, which comes with Centrino-based notebooks.

Finally, Linksys also introduced the Wireless-G Video Camera, which is being positioned as a remote security tool for home use or as a video communications tool. The $199 device also comes with an optional DNS subscription service.
