Link Software SA, a Belgian relationship management firm, has launched in the UK, a stepping stone to establishing itself in the US in the first quarter next year. The Brussels, Belgium firm provides relational databases which store information on personal contacts, companies and projects. Link’s plan is to act as the interface between two primary Microsoft applications, Exchange and SQL Server, and the front office. Its NT-based software, integrated with Microsoft Outlook, enables small to medium-sized firms to cross-reference contacts and information.

The company is 10 years old, but has only five years experience in software. Its technology has been developed for the last two years at the Free University of Brussels and it floated on the Neuer Markt in 1998. It recorded revenue of $150,000 last year, but CEO Mark Wajnsztok expects to make over $3m this year and $7m in 2000. Link is expected to increase staffing levels from the current 45 to 80 by the third quarter next year. Link plans to develop its technology to enable mobile users to access the database. One key use could be in delivering content, and the firm is in talks with both content providers and mobile operators to form partnerships in this arena, which Wajnsztok predicts will bear fruit in the next 12 months.
